The Strip Series On Sale - With Gorgeous New Covers!

Happy Tuesday, everyone!

I'm so excited that the first three books I wrote for Samhain, The Strip Series, are now available at a discount with gorgeous new covers. Here's a little info on them:

A walk on the wild side with her favorite bad boy is just what this good girl needs...

Mollie Mason is sure her night can’t get any worse. Stuck in an inflatable rubber cake, she overhears her fiancĂ© slamming her to the entire guest list of his bachelor party—and then she catches him cheating! But discovering her high school crush has witnessed her humiliation is the icing on the cake.

Cade Gallagher has wanted Mollie for years. And when she asks him to help her prove to the world—and herself—that she’s not just a good girl, he knows he’d be a fool to say no. But she wants a temporary fling. Will two weeks be enough time to convince her to take a chance on him—forever?

He’s vice. She’s nice. This potent mix has to be handled with care...

It seemed easy enough. Hit the local all-male strip club, pick a likely target and hire him for her best friend’s bachelorette party. But the stripper who catches Caroline’s eye has a different agenda. He’s an undercover cop, and Caroline ends up under arrest—for solicitation!

Tony DiMarco realizes too late that he’s made a mistake. Caroline’s reputation and business are suffering, and he feels responsible. He feels something else too—the pull of red-hot desire. He wants Caroline, but she’s afraid that he’s just trying to make up for his mistake. Can this determined vice cop teach her to trust him?

When the stakes are high, she’s ready to shed more than her inhibitions...

Dani’s been in love with Carter forever. But she’s nothing like the women he dates—glamorous, exciting, spotlight-ready. Instead, she’s stuck in the best-friend role and can’t seem to find a way out of it. Until a scheduling mix-up finds her enrolled in a strip-aerobics class. Now this buttoned-down wallflower is finding her wicked side—and liking it!

Carter can’t understand what’s happened to his best bud. She’s gone from sweet to sexy in ten seconds flat—and Carter’s lucky enough to be around for the ride of a lifetime. But he knows from past experience that relationships don’t last. He’s got to get things back on track before the most important friendship in his life is damaged forever.

Problem is, Dani has no intention of going back to being just friends. It’s about time someone challenged Carter’s assumptions about love and friendship—and Dani’s just the woman to do it!

So if you haven't read these books before, I hope you'll give them a chance! (Especially with bargain pricing and those gorgeous new covers!) And thanks to Samhain for giving them such a lovely makeover.

Book BIN Tuesday - The Bridesmaid's Best Man

Every bachelorette party has a surprise…

Angie Lawson is in Bridesmaid Hell—if Hell was a strip club filled with screaming women in stilettos. But her night's about to get a whole lot worse. Now her ex-boyfriend is standing right in front of her—every sexy, delicious inch of him—and Cole Foster isn't the kind of guy that any woman can just ignore….

Cole's working undercover, but he certainly wasn't expecting the intimate reminder of the wicked heat that he and Angie always shared. But when the maid of honor—silver stilettos and all—is knocked unconscious, Cole realizes he needs Angie's help to get into the bridal party. And if getting there means getting her in bed, too, then he's definitely the best man for the job!

Book BIN Tuesday - A Love Worth Living

When the nightmares yawn beneath her feet, the scariest part is letting go.

Dr. Carrie Farrow has dedicated her life to finding justice for the dead, but not without a steep cost. Years spent seeing the worst of humanity have left her determined to keep the living at a distance. It’s the only way she knows to keep her heart safe.

A dig in Rwanda changes everything. When she returns, her sexy neighbor’s concern and care slip past her iron defenses—and she finds comfort in a night of passion. But not the whole night. Before the sheets have cooled, she’s out of there.

David Cameron has walked a fine line, being there for her without pushing the bounds of their friendship. When she falls into his arms, he believes the years of loving her from afar are over—until she makes it clear one night is all he gets.

Knowing one night will never be enough, David sets out to show her life is worth living, and love is worth claiming…if she’s brave enough to choose him.

And he’s brave enough to open his heart wide enough to catch hers.

Life of the Party!

It's here! The final novella in the Girls Most Likely To trilogy, Life of the Party, is now available from Carina Press! Here's the details...

In high school, Tess Bonham was the go-to for party planning. So it's no surprise that she's built that talent into a successful party planning business. Tess loves her job--most of the time. Planning her own ten-year reunion weekend promises to be the highlight of her career, even if making it perfect for her former classmates means she won't actually have time to enjoy it herself.

Hotelier Jeremy Wright has wanted Tess for months, and he's tired of watching her sacrifice her social life to her overbooked calendar. So when she's short-staffed, Jeremy jumps at the chance to help out with her reunion during the day--if Tess surrenders the nights to him. He's got plans for a private party, and she's the guest of honor...

Tess should say no. But she really, really wants to say yes. Spending time with Jeremy reminds her just how much fun life can be. But she's not sure she can be "just friends" once she knows how amazing the benefits are...

"Kate has done a wonderful job in creating a believable sense of connection between Jeremy and Tess and I couldn’t have asked for more in a novel of this length." Maldivian Book Reviewer

"Kate Davies did a great job in bringing to the page Tess and Jeremy’s friends-to-lovers story in a way that truly gave me the insight necessary to understand where each were coming from and believe that they could be great together." Shirley Frances Books and More

"Sexy and emotional, with satisfying happily-ever-afters I can believe in. 'Girls most likely to...' is a delight." Vivian Arend

Book BIN Tuesday - Catch Up With The Girls Most Likely To!

In one week, the final installment inThe Girls Most Likely To trilogy will be released from Carina Press. So before you find out what naughty business Tess and Jeremy have gotten up to during the reunion, why not see where their story started - in Most Likely To Succeed and Cutest Couple?

Ten years after being voted Most Likely to Succeed, Kelsey Moore is still living in her hometown, still working in her family's flower shop, and too embarrassed to attend her high school reunion. Only the chance to reconnect with her study buddy—and secret crush—Nathan Barrow tempts her to go.

Nathan isn't sure why he came back for the reunion after spending the past decade working abroad. But when he runs into his former lab partner, Kelsey, he's sure glad he did. The chemistry between them is as potent as ever, and when she offers him a weekend of wild, no-strings-attached sex, Nathan knows he'd be a fool to say no.

Nathan can't be tied to one place for long. But the more time they spend together—in and out of bed—the more Kelsey wonders if their reunion could become something more permanent. That is, if Nathan is still interested when he finds out she's been less than honest with him about her life since graduation…

Ten years ago, Marc and Bree were voted Cutest Couple—until a graduation-night argument destroyed their relationship. Unable to contact him, Bree had no choice but to forget Marc—and raise the son she never got to tell him about.

Marc got Bree's message loud and clear when he never heard from her again. Now stationed near his hometown, he sees their high school reunion as a chance to make peace with the past. But after one glimpse of Bree, he knows he never really got over her. And after one glimpse of her son, Marc knows he's the boy's father…

Despite the secrets and lies that kept them apart, Marc and Bree can't resist picking up where they left off. But when the weekend is over, it may be too late to build the future they once dreamed of.

Cutest Couple - Second Excerpt

“Marc?” Bree stepped closer, the scent of her shampoo wrapping around him. “What’s wrong?”

Nothing. Everything. With a muffled growl, he slid his arm around her waist and pulled her into him. She gasped, her mouth opening, and he swept his tongue inside. Even ten years later, he still recognized the softness of her lips, the little groan that escaped her before she wrapped her arms around him and kissed him back.

This was no innocent peck between old friends. This was heat and desire and passion, tongues stroking, teeth nipping, breath panting. They were two strong-willed people, fighting for dominance. He slid one hand down her back to cup her ass, tugging her hips forward until their bodies met from shoulder to knee.

In response, she slipped one foot between his, arching into him. She gripped the back of his head, her nails scoring sharp little stings in his scalp. Her teeth nipped at his mouth.

It was anger and lust, white-hot and clear as glass.

It was every emotion he’d felt since last night rolled into one.

Turning her, he backed her blindly into the locker bank. Urging her leg up, he wrapped it around his waist, rocking into her in a steady rhythm that built and built. Her head dropped back, banging against the metal locker with a hollow thunk.

He ripped his mouth away from hers, sliding his lips down her cheek to her jawline, feathering over the
column of her neck, until he reached the sensitive spot where her pulse raced right under the skin. He mouthed over it, grimly satisfied at her gasping cry. Then he latched on and sucked.

Bree whimpered brokenly, tilting her head back to the side to give him better access, until he pulled away.
Already he could see the redness rising on her pale skin.

She was marked, where anyone could see.

It shouldn’t please him as much as it did.

Book BIN Tuesday - In The Dark (Children of Night) - FREE!

Yes, it's true! For one more week, PG Forte's In The Dark is free on Amazon and Barnes and Noble. Go get a copy ASAP!

When you live forever, you’re bound to make a few mistakes.

Children of Night, Book 1

1969 San Francisco. World-weary Conrad Quintano should have known better than to fall in love with a human—much less Suzanne Fischer, the barely legal, adventure-seeking hippie beauty known as Desert Rose. And the very last thing he should have agreed to do was to raise her babies and protect them with his life. But even twelve-hundred-year-old master vampires can find it hard to reject a deathbed request—especially when issues of love, guilt and blood are involved.

Present day. Raised in virtual isolation, twins Marc and Julie Fischer have always known they are vampires. But they never knew their parentage—or their unique status in the vampire world—until their “uncle” Damian comes to fetch them home. The family reunion, however, isn’t what they expect. They’re thrust into a world for which they’re totally unprepared. And the father they expected to see, Conrad, is missing.

How to find him…and whom to trust? Solving the mystery of betrayal and vampire family values will prove the Beatles had it right. All you need is love…and an occasional side of blood.

Cutest Couple - First Excerpt!

Less than two weeks to the release of Cutest Couple, book two in the Girls Most Likely To trilogy. So how about an excerpt to start the day off right?

***

What the hell was she doing?

She’d had the opportunity. When he’d first walked over to the bar, turning his back on the door, she’d had the perfect chance to run. He’d never have noticed her slipping out.

And now it was too late.

Because there he was, standing in front of her, just inside her comfort zone. She couldn’t break eye contact to save her life. She felt like prey, watched by a predator that was no less frightening for being so familiar.

He’d never hurt her. Never physically. But she remembered how emotionally wrecked she’d been by the aftermath of their breakup, and had no intention of opening herself up to that pain again.

“Hello, Bree.”

“Marc.” Her heart was beating too fast, her breathing rapid and shallow. If she wasn’t careful she was going
to start hyperventilating.

“You look good.”

She wasn’t sure how he could tell, considering his gaze had never left eye level. “Thanks. So do you.”

Actually, “good” was an understatement. His blond hair, now cut military-short, accentuated his bone structure in a way the soft curls of high school hadn’t managed. His eyes were more noticeable, the piercing blue framed by those thick dark lashes she’d always envied.

He’d filled out, too, his lanky teenage frame now tautly muscled and toned.

Bree gritted her teeth. All the memories, all the emotions were clamoring for attention, and she was a little
weak.

She looked around. No one was riding to her rescue. Instead, they were surrounded by people avidly notwatching their meeting. Probably hoping for fireworks or a blowout on a reality-TV scale. Where the hell was Tess when she needed her?

Bree took a step back. “I didn’t expect you to be here tonight. You didn’t RSVP.”

“Nope,” he said with a shrug. “I wasn’t sure if I was going to make it or not.”

“What changed your mind?”

Marc leaned forward. “You.”

Book BIN Tuesday - Busted by Sydney Somers

It's Promise Harbor Wedding book three!  Check it out:

His game...her rules.

Hockey star Jackson Knight has a hundred reasons not to return to Promise Harbor, but none of them are good enough to get him out of attending his best friend’s wedding. Even with a career-ending knee injury, every puck-bunny in town will be gunning for him.

Worse, getting a pair of cuffs slapped on him at the bachelor party could ruin any chance of getting back in the game, even as a coach. Unless he can convince the arresting officer to smooth things over—by going to the wedding as his date.

Hayley Stone figures posing as Jackson’s girlfriend is the least she can do to salvage his reputation. Plus, having a man with a toe-curling smile on her arm will keep her ex off her back.

What starts as a simple plan to deflect small-town pot-shots unexpectedly becomes a sizzling night that hits Jackson like a full-body-check to the heart. Now he’s determined to prove that she’s the best of reason of all to come home—for good.

Warning: Contains a fiery powerplay both on and off the ice, skin-tingling forced intimacy, interfering grandparents, bear costume hijinks, a haunted house and the kind of game-changing chemistry worth fighting for.

Reason #102395765 I Love My Day Job

One of my co-workers was gone last week for a training. What you have to understand is, he's NEVER gone. I've been there just over a year and I've taken more vacation days than he has.

This can be a dangerous thing. The first time I left my office for more than a day or two, this is what I came back to:

If you're familiar with The Bloggess, you'll recognize Beyonce, the giant metal chicken. There were supposedly 90 cutouts of her all over my office. I think I've discovered MAYBE 70 of them. And this was a year ago.

So I've been biding my time, waiting for a chance to get my co-worker back. Which is tough, because he NEVER GOES AWAY.

Except for last week.

He was gone. It was my opportunity.

Now, after a year of plotting, did I actually have anything planned? No. I did not.

Those of you who know me will not be surprised in the least.

Luckily, I have other awesome co-workers, and we brainstormed together.

After discarding the "turn everything upside down" and "fill the room with balloons" options, we came up with a brilliant plan, if we do say so ourselves.

This is what co-worker will see when he walks into the building in the morning:

A room filled with packing peanuts! Except not.

We taped plastic sheeting over the inside of his window and filled *that* with packing peanuts. But it LOOKS like the whole damn room is filled, and that's what counts.

We even put some heavy boxes on the other side of the door and pulled them snug with an old computer cable. When he tries to open the door, he'll run into resistance, which will make him think it really is stuffed full with packing peanuts.

The best part is, cleanup will be a snap.

The only downside is, I can never take another vacation again. Who knows what they'll dream up while I'm gone?

Book BIN Tuesday - Bolted by Meg Benjamin

Here it is - the second book in the Promise Harbor Wedding series!

Sometimes you have to get lost before you can find yourself.
Greta Brewster McBain in a bind. Two, if she’s really counting. First there’s the can-barely-breathe, bridesmaid’s dress from hell. Second, the stranger who just carried her “perfect” brother’s fiancĂ©e out the church door has made it impossible to tell her own mother about her own divorce.

Rather than confirm her reputation as the family screw-up, Greta takes a drive to clear her head.

Trapped in a hole and unable to reach his cell phone, Hank Mitchell is resigned to becoming a permanent part of his own archeological dig when help arrives—in the form of a woman who looks like a Gone With The Wind refugee. Behind the ruffles and lace, though, is something he appreciates: a woman who isn’t afraid of a little dirt.

Their instant connection draws Greta into the eccentric world of the Hotel Grand, where she impulsively trades her hoopskirts for an apron. Soon things are getting hot, not only in the hotel kitchen, but in Hank’s arms...

Warning: Contains hot moonlit sex, a melancholy turtle, two wisecracking seniors, and the world’s ugliest bridesmaid dress.

Countdown to Most Likely To Succeed!

Five days to go!

How about a new, never-before seen excerpt:

Kelsey put the phone on speaker and set it on her dresser. “I don’t think I can make it tonight,” she lied.

“Bullshit,” Tess said, her voice echoing over the phone line. “You just don’t want to run into Nathan again.”

Kelsey stood in front of the mirror and held up a red sweater.

No. She tossed it on the bed. “I’m just really busy.” Which was not only a lie, but a lame one at that.
And why was she trying on clothes for an event she’d just said she couldn’t attend?

Clearly, she had issues with internal consistency.

“Busy doing what?” Tess snorted. “Come on, cut the crap and get down here before I drag you kicking and screaming."

“I can’t.” She shoved the pile of clothing out of the way and sat down on the bed. “I made a complete fool out of myself today. And I haven’t thanked you yet for making it possible, have I?”

“How was I supposed to know he’d show up at the door in nothing but a towel? Which, by the way, you should be thanking me for, minus the sarcasm, thank you very much.”

Kelsey grabbed the phone from the dresser and took it off speaker. “Okay, yes, the visual was—impressive. But he started asking me questions and I...” She swallowed. “I panicked.”

Tess’s voice softened. “You’ve done nothing to be ashamed of, Kelsey. I wish you could get past that and just enjoy the reunion.”

Kelsey picked at a loose thread on the blue-and-green sweater next to her. “I know.”

“So put on something sexy, come have a few drinks and enjoy yourself. Better yet, get a few drinks into Nathan and enjoy him.”

“Tess!”

“What? It’s not like there’s a wide pool of candidates for a fling here in Silverton. Face it. You’ve had the hots for him for years. Why not take advantage of the short time he’s in town to act on it?”

Book BIN Tuesday - Jilted by Kelly Jamieson

You guys, I'm so excited! Today marks the start of an amazing new series, written by four of my favourite people. First up is Jilted, by Kelly Jamieson. Here's the deets:

Promise Harbor Wedding Book 1

The wedding's off but the honeymoon is on...

Devon can do this. She can show up at her ex-boyfriend Josh's wedding, even though he's marrying her ex-best-friend. She can show everyone she's happy with her fabulous life in Boston, her great career, her amazing shoes -- and she can show everyone she's over him.

Truth is, her life isn't so fabulous. She's just been downsized out of her job, her Jimmy Choos won't pay her rent, and...she's still heartbroken that Josh chose family over her. The real reason she's enduring this wedding is that her next stop is nearby Greenbush Island, her last hope of finding a new job.

Josh knows marrying long-time friend Allie will make everyone happy after the rough time their families have been through, and since the woman he really wanted to marry chose her career and big city life over him -- why not?

But the perfect wedding turns into a perfect disaster when Allie leaves him at the altar for another man. He never saw that coming! But hey, Devon's there, offering to help him look for Allie on Greenbush Island, where he'd planned their honeymoon. Only, all they find are their old feelings for each other and a temptation to risk their hearts one more time...

Warning: This book contains a firefighter hot enough to ignite flames, a woman who doesn't want to get burned again, a honeymoon suite but no honeymoon, and sex not on the beach (sorry).

Most Likely To Succeed - First Look!

In just 17 days, Most Likely To Succeed is going to be released from Carina Press. The first novella in the Girls Most Likely To trilogy, Most Likely To Succeed is the story of Kelsey Moore, a hometown girl who feels like she hasn't lived up to her potential, and Nathan Barrow, her high school crush who's gone on to great things since graduation. Here's a quick peek at the book:

Book one in The Girls Most Likely to…

SNEAK PEEK #1

Kelsey shifted the flower arrangement in her arms and sighed. The last thing she needed today was an emergency run over to the hotel, especially since she’d already agreed to take the weekend off for the reunion.

But Tess had wheedled, and begged, and probably would have batted her eyelashes if they’d been on Skype, so she’d caved.

Besides, Tess hardly ever asked for anything. Made it damn near impossible to say no to her when she did have a favor to ask.

Twice in one week, in fact.
Nancy, as always busy behind the counter, smiled as Kelsey entered the hotel. “Tess said to just go ahead and bring it up to room 417.”

Kelsey nodded and headed for the elevator. She had no idea why Tess thought the suite needed a new flower arrangement, but she’d been insistent.

Must be someone pretty special staying there, too, since Tess had ordered their largest display.

The elevator doors opened and Kelsey walked down the hall to room 417. Once there, she shifted the vase to one arm so she could knock.

There was no response, so she knocked again, wondering if she was going to need to head back downstairs to get a passkey. Before she could turn to go, though, the door opened.

And so did her mouth, her jaw dropping almost to the floor.
Because Nathan Barrow was standing in the doorway.
Wearing nothing but a towel wrapped around his waist.

Y'all, Vivian Arend has a new series starting today. And it sounds GOOOOOD.

Here are the deets:

LIFELINE: an elite search-and-rescue squad based out of Banff, Alberta. Specializing in high-risk rescue missions, this team goes wherever the job takes them…
Rebecca James was once revered for her devil-may-care attitude and backcountry survival skills. But ever since she lost her partner in a fatal accident, patches of her memory have been missing. And until she can recall those final, tragic moments before the accident, she can’t move on.

Since Marcus Landers was permanently injured during a mission, all his energies have been focused on his Lifeline team. When Becki—whom he had an intense affair with seven years ago—arrives in Banff, he’s inspired to reignite the spark they once had. Their mutual ardor slowly awakens Becki’s dormant, haunting memories.

New truths surface until Becki must at last confront her greatest fear. Remembering the past might mean a future without the man she loves…

Book BIN Tuesday - Now Comes The Night

More vampires from PG Forte! Yay!

Home is where the heart bleeds.

Children of Night, Book 3

Growing up, vampire-born twins Julie and Marc Fischer were taught one simple fact of life: you can choose your food, but not your family. Six months after moving to San Francisco, though, the new challenges and choices each are facing are a Gordian knot of complicated.

Marc must decide whether to stay with Conrad and Damian, the only family he’s ever known, or embrace his destiny and the unexpected family—the ferals—that comes along with it. Meanwhile, Julie is forced to deal with the unpleasant realization that the man she loves isn’t necessarily the man who’s best for her.

For Conrad and Damian, the holiday season is stirring up bittersweet memories, and neither can keep from revisiting past passion and pain.

Faced with new mysteries to solve, new alliances to forge, new secrets to keep, and old relationships to rebuild, it’s no wonder the Fischer-Quintano vampires long for the good old days—when food was food and family was all that mattered.

Product Warnings
If you’ve previously suffered from Disco Fever, this book could precipitate a relapse. Extreme care is recommended for anyone with a pronounced weakness for mistletoe, fang play, pretty young men of either species or extremely dangerous alpha-male vampire single dads. Book BIN Tuesday - Just What I Need

Can't get enough of Erin Nicholas' Bradfords? Well, you're in luck - Just What I Need releases today!

Expect the unexpected…especially when a Bradford is expecting.

A Bradford Novella

As family and friends gather to see Dooley and Morgan get married, anticipation is high—but no one saw this much excitement coming. A wedding that doubles as a baby shower, a limo that doubles as an ambulance, a hospital room that doubles as a honeymoon suite… Sure, why not? It’s a Bradford wedding, after all.

Dani’s in labor, Sam’s in a daze, Ben’s taking charge, Sara’s crying, Jessica’s got a secret, Dooley’s missing his honeymoon—in other words, things are crazy. As usual. But through it all they’ve got each other. As always.

Warning: An epilogue to the Bradford series (seriously, this is an epilogue, so keep that in mind) featuring all the couples, a wedding, a baby—or two—and donuts. Because you have to have donuts.

Now Posted on NNN - Sax On A Stick!

So way back in October, when eight of the Nine Naughties met up in New Orleans for a writer's weekend, we planned a group blog event based around the city we all fell in love with. We'd each write a short story set in NOLA, and post them one week at a time on the blog.

Well, this is my week, and Sax On A Stick is ready to be read!

It's my first m/m story to see the light of day (at least outside of a fanfic site, LOL), and I really love it. There's a sexy dirty sax player and a buttoned-up shy guy, and well, there are a lot of sparks flying!

I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it. And keep your eye out once all nine stories are posted, because we'll be collecting them into an anthology for sale wherever e-books are sold!

Hop on over to Nine Naughty Novelists and take a peek!

The Next Big Thing - Chantilly White

Please welcome Chantilly White to the blog today! She's stopping by to participate in The Next Big Thing. Thanks for blogging with me, Chantilly!

What is your working title of your book?
My next release is a short Valentine's Day story titled Cupid's Mistake, which will be available in early February.
Where did the idea come from for the book?
Cupid's Mistake is a mini sequel to my Christmas release, Unwrapped, which starred Mia Patterson and Derrick Fox. Allison Kelly is their best friend, a feisty modern woman who is very much used to going after and getting what she wants, including any man she sets her sights on. She's never thought seriously about settling down before, but now she's surrounded by friends who are pairing up and getting married—she's an event planner by trade, so she's also handling all their weddings—and she's suddenly having these strange feelings she doesn't quite know what to do with. On New Year's Day, she's feeling vulnerable and unsure, very foreign concepts for her, and it leads to her making a life-altering decision.
Allison was so together and self-assured in Unwrapped, I wanted to see her knocked off her stride a little bit—and nothing does that better than unexpectedly falling in love! Especially when the guy is nothing like the men she's used to dating. Ben's not her type at all, and she has to come to grips with that before she can really give her heart.
I wanted to see her get her happily-ever-after, because while she was busy running around having fun with her one-or-a-few-night stands with all those hot guys, I felt her heart was in trouble. She was on the edge of becoming jaded, and I didn't want to see that happen to her. I like her. I thought she deserved her HEA, too.
What genre does your book fall under?
Spicy-hot contemporary romance.
Which actors would you choose to play your characters in a movie rendition?
I see Allison as a cross between Emma Stone and Scarlett Johansson—insanely beautiful, tough and spunky, smart and sassy, but with a more vulnerable core than even she suspects. Her love interest, Ben, is totally delectable, but in a rougher way than she's used to with all the California surfer dudes and hipsters she's gone out with in the past. I see him as a slightly younger Jeffrey Dean Morgan type, but mountain-manned up, since when they first meet, he has a full beard and is looking pretty scruffy.
What is the one-sentence synopsis of your book?
In a moment of emotional weakness, Allison Kelly signs up for what she is sure will be her biggest mistake ever—an internet dating service that sets her up with a man so wrong for her, he must be Mr. Right.
Will your book be self-published or represented by an agency?
I'm indie publishing at this time.
How long did it take you to write the first draft of your manuscript?
Cupid's Mistake is a short story, so it took about two weeks to write. But once my manuscripts are done, they go to my critique partners, I get them back and revise based on their recommendations, then they go to my beta readers, and I revise again after I get my stories back from them. Then there's the final edit/revision/polish process, so altogether, it takes me about six weeks to produce a finished version of a short story like Cupid's Mistake.
What other books would you compare this story to within your genre?
That's a tough question. There are a lot of authors I admire and a lot of excellent stories I aspire to, as far as reaching their level of craft, but to compare them. . . I don't know.
Who or what inspired you to write this book?
The person who actually inspired me to write this story is one of my best friends, and fellow writer, Joan Satterlee. She beta read Unwrapped for me, and in the process mentioned how much she enjoyed Allison and thought she ought to get her own story. I agreed!
What else about your book might pique the reader's interest?
It's a short story, so there's not a lot of time commitment involved—it's the perfect length for curling up with a cup of coffee or cocoa and grabbing a little time for yourself—but still has a complete story resolution, including that all-important happily-ever-after. It's spicy and emotional and fun—hopefully, readers will find it a quick, satisfying read.
Thanks so much for having me!
