Thursday Thirteen #8 -- Thirteen Signs of Spring

THIRTEEN SIGNS OF SPRING I'VE NOTICED THIS WEEK
1. The daphne is blossoming. Sadly, the most recent frost/snowstorm damaged it pretty badly, so it's not as full and fragrant as usual. I'm hoping it comes back next year.
2. Daffodils, crocuses, and those little purple cone-topped flowers planted by the previous owner are starting to bloom.
3. The tulips are coming up, though they aren't quite ready to pop yet.
4. The blue jays are building their nest in the japanese maple.
5. Girls at the elementary school down the road are starting to wear skirts and capris -- who cares if it's 40 degrees out!
6. Lots of plants for sale. Everywhere.
7. Strawberries on sale at Safeway.
8. An inexplicable urge to weed. (I generally lie down until it goes away.)
9. It's park-going time! (At least according to my youngest, who has an unerring eye for playground equipment.)
10. Dang, I have to start wearing something besides big heavy sweaters?
11. Spring break is a week and a half away!
12. Bird song and lawnmowers. (Hopefully not together -- LOL!)
13. Open windows in the afternoon make the house seem so fresh and clean.
Is spring making itself known in your neck of the woods?

Bluebirds, flowers blooming, and strawberries at Safeway - yup, spring is here.

I'm all about the letter z this week on my TT #7 post.

Kate, great list! We have two big, ancient fruitless cherry trees in our front yard, and they're just now beginning to grow their beautiful, fragrant pink blossoms.

Why can't the tree stay pink all summer long?? :P

I love spring.

Makes me nostalgic for when I used to live in places that had a spring...doesn't happen in Florida.

You left off seasonal allergies, nasal spray and tissues, lolol.

Oh I'm so glad it's just not me!

No sign of spring here yet, other than the temperature. One day it's 40 and the next day it's almost 80. The weather in Virginia waffles almost as much as I do. :)

Oh I can't wait for spring! It's getting a lot more "springy" around here ~ but I could use a little warmer weather. :)

Have a great Thursday!

The apricot tree in our yard is in full bloom. Last week you would have though we'd skipped it - it was HOT! But, next week they tell us it's coming anyway with cold and rain.

My TT is about obsolete words this week.

Wonderful list, Kate. I've always loved spring. We get to enjoy a much longer season out here in the Pacific NW than we did in Chicago!

I always crack up about the girls wearing tiny skirts and shorts in freezing weather!

I love the daffodils. I think they and sunflowers are the smiliest of all sunfowers:)
